In a tragic event in Nagaur district, Rajasthan, a former Border Security Force (BSF) member reportedly shot his brother-in-law before taking his own life on Thursday. This incident stemmed from ongoing familial conflicts involving his estranged wife and her relatives.
The 48-year-old ex-BSF jawan had been increasingly distressed over his wife's extended three-month visit to her parents' home. He accused his in-laws of manipulating her against him, leading to constant disputes and eventual separation.
Local police constable Suresh Chaudhary confirmed that the man recorded a video prior to the incident, detailing his marital struggles and blaming his in-laws for influencing his wife's choices.
Chaudhary stated, "The bodies of Himanshu have been sent for autopsy, and the investigation is ongoing." He noted that the man was enraged by the conflicts and believed his in-laws were coercing his wife to take their side, which led to her moving back to her parents.
According to police reports, the ex-BSF personnel, who had two children, fatally shot his brother-in-law in the chest with a licensed firearm before turning the gun on himself, resulting in instant death.
In his video, he expressed frustration over his wife's frequent conversations with her siblings, which lasted two to three hours daily, prompting him to restrict her phone use. Despite this, her siblings provided her with a new phone. He also mentioned financial strain in their marriage, particularly when he failed to send her ₹15,000, which contributed to her anger.
This shocking incident has left the community in disbelief, and authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding it, including the contents of the video message.
